A place of peace and respect

The nature center currently offers programs such as Family activities and events, Nature Storybook trail, Adult Education Programs, Senior programs, and volunteer community events such as tree planting and invasive management activities serving all ages and abilities.

Volunteers Needed:

If you have an open morning or afternoon, and enjoy talking with friendly people and offering them a cup of coffee, answering questions, and possibly helping with tasks, you could be a receptionist volunteer.

Training and volunteer background checks are provided.

Buckthorn Removal Days:

The second Saturday of each month we gather to clear buckthorn in Sunfish Lake Park. We have the tools and gloves, you just bring whatever other supplies you might need (water, bug spray, sun screen, snacks, etc.). This is part of our grant-funded Buckthorn Removal and Replacement project. We’ve contracted out the big areas, but need volunteers to help us get to the spots where the heavy machinery can’t reach.  Removal dates for the remainder of 2024 are September 14, October 12, November 9 and December 14. Our Sunfish Lake Park Buckthorn Removal Festival is scheduled for October 26th.

Internship Opportunities:

We have two sponsored Internship Positions for the Summer to work on ecosystem studies, and add to our  knowledge of nature in the Park.
