Buckthorn Removal Festival

This annual festival is held every October and is part of our larger Buckthorn Removal and Restoration project which is dedicated to removing invasive buckthorn throughout Sunfish Lake Park and restoring native trees and plants. The festival invites visitors to help clear out buckthorn, and we welcome groups (Boy Scout Troops, Girl Scout Troops, schools, families, you name it) to compete to see who can clear the most in one morning. It’s a friendly competition, of course, the real winners are the native trees in Sunfish Lake Park. 

In addition to clearing buckthorn, the festival includes activities, music, and food, and it’s free and open to all.  See you in October!
